Learning how a book works
is an important part of learning to read.
Babies feel safe when
they are being held and they love to hear the sounds of words. They are
exploring the book when they touch, smell and even chew the book. Later, they
will hold the book the right way up, turn the pages and start making sounds
when they see a picture in a familiar story.
